I wanted a holder for my car charger cable in an underground parking lot, where there is no sun and no real temperature variation, so I asked around about whether PETG or ASA made more sense and whether the shape should be an arc like a garden hose holder or just a simple hook. PETG won out, partly because it is stiffer and partly because I have a roll I want to use up. I designed and printed my first version, and it came out far too small.

I had GPT 6 Astra design a little enclosure for a presence sensor I'm making, without writing a line of code or touching any CAD myself. I described what I wanted in a few messages and the first thing it generated already fit together, and after a few later iterations to change things it fits perfectly: the ESP, the sensor and the lid all press-fit together.

I am building a keyboard instrument with a glockenspiel suspended above a set of 3D printed key mechanisms, which makes it really a celesta rather than a piano. Each note's whole implementation is narrow enough to fit within the width of a key, and alongside the key mechanism I have prototyped a sustain damper that lifts off the tone bar when the key is pressed and returns to damp it when the key is released. After trying to make the mechanisms compliant, I have given up on that approach and I am going to make an ordinary mechanism instead.

This is the story of my LDO Rev C Voron Trident 300, a printer I built about two years ago and eventually handed over to a fellow Discord member in Thessaloniki. I go through everything that was wrong with it, from the blemished acrylic panels and the POM lead screw nuts that turned to dust, through the Z probe and gantry levelling problems that came after I swapped in PEEK nuts, to the PTFE tube that keeps getting bent and the tensioner door I hold shut with a rubber band. I list it for sale, fail to sell it, pack it up with zip ties, and arrange for a transport company to drive it from Zurich to Greece, where it gets unpacked, recalibrated and put straight to work.

A thin printed diffuser made from plain white filament, printed 0.6 mm thick so the individual LEDs underneath stay hidden without the light being softened too much. Nicolas asked about it in the thread and plans to try something similar over a Pico Unicorn Pack.
