The Exelixi Macropad: A Layer Dedicated to Motivational Nonsense
I absolutely love my macropad, and I've just given it a new purpose: an entire layer dedicated to a Greek-American influencer/hustler/idiot guy whose quotes are so ridiculous they deserve dedicated hardware. Press a button, and out comes "nootropia type shit bro" or "exelixi bro, open the fuckin pita." It's been so much fun that I've decided everyone needs one, so I'm getting a batch of PCBs made to send around to friends.
Description
This project started as pure delight with my macropad and turned into something I now want to put into other people's hands.
There's a Greek-American influencer/hustler/idiot guy who produces some absolutely ridiculous quotes. Rather than just quoting him at people, I built a layer on my macropad dedicated entirely to him, so it types out his quotes at the press of a button. The current lineup includes:
- "nootropia type shit bro"
- "don't do dis shit, don't do dat, do dis, do dat"
- "failing to prepare is preparing to fail"
- "exelixi bro, open the fuckin pita"
It's so much fun that I've come to a firm conclusion: everyone needs a macropad. So I'm going to get some PCBs made and send them around. Nicolas asked for one — he wants to be able to type this at the press of a button too — so he's definitely getting one, and I'll hand over the original to Agisilaos once the new PCBs arrive. (He insists he can type it manually, exelixi, but I say: don't do dis shit, read a book bro.)
For the board itself, the plan is a reset button and a physical on/off switch, with hotswap sockets as an optional extra. On the recipient's end, you'll need to supply your own MX switches, keycaps, and a nice!nano clone. But wait for me to actually make it first.
Outstanding question: where's my smokestack thing?
