Quick UV Lamp Build With Room to Grow

I finally got around to using one of those USB decoys that Stavros and Rudd-O are always praising, and built a quick UV lamp around it. The decoy came pre-soldered for 12V, and rather than swap out the resistor I designed a circuit around the 12V requirement instead. I'm being careful with my eyesight while using it, and I've since made the setup a bit safer.

This was a quick UV lamp build, with room to grow later on.

I'd been hearing Stavros and Rudd-O talk up those USB decoys for a while, and I finally got round to actually using one. Verdict: loved it.

The one I had came pre-soldered for 12V. I couldn't be arsed to change the resistor, so instead I just came up with a circuit that requires 12V — working around the part rather than reworking it.

UV and eyes don't mix, and Rudd-O flagged that straight away. I'm being super careful with it, and I've since made the setup a bit safer than it was in the first photo.

One last note for anyone wondering about the "E" in the build: it stands for Extreme.
